  1. Thank you to whomever is responsible for placing 1959 and 1960 on this site.

I was (still am) the drummer in The Five Counts, and I’d like to correct something that has bugged me for years, 52 years to be precise. Our third piece on the 1960 album is listed as “The Wood Concerto”. That was an error. It was “Wood’s Concerto” because Peter Wood ’60 wrote the tune and is playing lead guitar!

Peter also drafted the album covers for the 1959, 1960, and 1961 (an encore of 1960) albums.

The other guys you hear on our cuts are Carl Haines ’60 (guitar), Frank Kaphan ’60 (accordian), Paul Knoke ’60 (guitar) and George Relyea ’61 (piano).

We named ourselves The Five Counts in honor of Tony “The Count” DuBourg.

    -Bob Popper ’61
